Chiaravalle di Fiastra Abbey
This extremely valuable heritage has been passed down through the centuries by the Cistercian monks: their fundamental rules “Ora et Labora” (pray and work) and “Cruce et aratro” (cross and plough) inspired their incredible, admirable work, which now adds value to the area. The abbey church of Chiaravalle di Fiastra (a parish in the Diocese of Macerata) is open every day, from 7.15 am to 6.00 pm.
Fermo In Bici – Cycling around Fermo’s castles
From Fermo proceed to Monsampietro Morico and then to Sant’Elpidio Morico, villages named after Morica, the wife of Malugero Melo, son of the Norman nobleman Drogo of Hauteville. Continue along the steep, prickly ascents as far as Montottone, an evocative hilltop village with views over the surrounding countryside. After a break in this fascinating spot, where time seems to stand still, you are ready to return to Fermo.
Dawn over Porto Sant’Elpidio is something you won’t easily forget
It may not be easy to get up early in the morning but it certainly has its rewards. Get up before everyone else and go silently down to the beach as the day is dawning; sit on the beach and wait for the sun to appear. On a perfect day, the spectacle is something you will remember forever. All this just a few steps from your accommodation!
Museo Pontificio Santa Casa, Loreto
The Museo-Antico Tesoro della Santa Casa (Holy House Antique Treasure Museum) is located in the west wing of the Apostolic Palace in Loreto. The Museum houses a rich, varied wealth of artistic and religious artefacts, a testimony of the fame and prestige it enjoys throughout the world. The ten Flemish tapestries produced in 1620-1624 on Raffaello’s cardboards (17th century) are remarkable and must be seen during your holidays in Marche.
